We want to ensure that we are making the very most of your generosity towards the Competition.

Gift Aid

As a registered charity (no. 1073251) the Leeds International Piano Competition is able to benefit from the Government’s Gift Aid scheme. This means that we are able to claim an additional 25% of your donation back from the Government – without it costing you a penny extra.

You need to be a UK registered tax-payer for your donation to qualify. Please contact David Ward (Development Director) with any questions regarding Gift Aid.

Higher rate tax payers

If you pay tax at the higher or additional rate, you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation. This means that not only is the Competition able to claim an additional 25% of your donation through the Gift Aid scheme, but you are able to claim back the additional tax you’ve paid on that donation.

For example

If you donate £1,000 to the Competition, we claim Gift Aid to make your donation £1,250. If you pay tax at 40% you can personally claim back £250 (£1,250 x 20%).

Please contact David Ward (Development Director) with questions regarding tax reliefs available on donations to the Competition. You can also visit the HMRC website which has further information on tax reliefs on charitable donations.
