Visit the astonishing, hundred-seater, in-the-round Pianodrome amphitheatre made entirely from over forty beautiful old pianos saved from landfill. Three public pianos are embedded in the tiered seating, just waiting to be played. Come and join us! Entry is free of charge and there are daily opportunities for everyone to connect, listen, breathe and learn.
You can pick up a map by clicking here or in the Pianodrome and complete the Piano Treasure Trail (click here for more information). Twelve of the piano sculptures and planters are marked with a unique letter, making up the twelve semitone notes on a piano keyboard. As you find each note, fill in the corresponding boxes on this map.
Bring your completed map back to the Pianodrome in the Brodrick Hall at Leeds City Museum, and collect your souvenir prize made from a piano part.
The Pianodrome Theatre will be open Tuesday – Friday 10am – 5pm and Saturday & Sunday 11am – 5pm, from Saturday 31st August to Saturday 21st September.
Some people might feel more comfortable visiting at a quieter time in the week, which is likely to be on a Tuesday or Wednesday but can be scheduled on any weekday. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to arrange a visit for the people you work with. Everyone is welcome, whatever their ages and abilities, and our team of Pianimators, staff and volunteers can support in different ways – arranging an informal performance, informal piano lessons, or just giving people the opportunity to play and explore at their own pace. Please do get in touch to arrange a visit and let us know what your group’s interests and needs are.
